FAQ: What is functional medicine?

Honest Answers to the Questions You’re Already Asking

Is functional medicine legit? Or is it just wellness hype?

Functional medicine is not a trend. It’s a science-based, patient-centered approach to care that seeks to identify and address the underlying causes of disease, rather than simply treating symptoms.

It combines the latest in advanced diagnostics, molecular biology, and systems medicine to treat the body as an interconnected whole. It’s how medicine should be—but rarely is.

How is this different from what my doctor does?

Traditional medicine asks, “What’s your diagnosis, and what drug do we use to manage it?”
Functional medicine asks, “Why is this happening in the first place—and how do we fix it at the root?”

We take the time to uncover the full story behind your symptoms. You won’t just get a label. You’ll get a plan.

Are you anti-medication?

No—but we’re anti-band-aid. Pharmaceuticals have a place, and we use them when necessary.
But we always ask first: Can we correct the imbalance naturally? If we can support the body in healing itself, that’s always our first move.

Why don’t you accept insurance?

Because it would limit your care. Insurance won’t cover the depth of labs we run, the time we spend with you, or the personalized work required to reverse chronic dysfunction. We’re not here for codes and quotas. We’re here to help you heal.

What kind of conditions do you treat?

We work with patients dealing with:

  • Chronic fatigue and burnout

  • Hormonal imbalances (thyroid, perimenopause, PCOS)

  • Gut dysfunction, IBS, and bloating

  • Weight loss resistance

  • Autoimmune flares and inflammation

  • Anxiety, brain fog, and mood instability

  • Blood sugar and metabolic dysfunction

But here’s the thing: We don’t treat “conditions.”
We treat people.

How long does it take to get better?

Healing isn’t instant—but it is possible. Most of our patients feel meaningful shifts within 60–90 days, and see full transformations within 6–12 months. You didn’t get sick overnight. We’re here to walk you back to health the right way—not the rushed way.
